Residual Realities series: Hammer Museum

“A Fine Experiment: A Tribute to Robert Heinecken”

The exhibit was a homage to Robert for promoting the inclusion of photography into the Grunwald Center for the Graphic Arts, at the Fredrick S. Wight Gallery, which has morphed into the Hammer Museum that houses the Armand Hammer Collection.
The exhibit title is “A Fine Experiment: A Tribute to Robert Heinecken” curated by Carolyn Peter.
It was housed in a modest gallery space. The walls had many examples of the masters of photography images, Robert’s stuff and works of his students .
Darryl brought Jan. Phil Saveneck was there shooting video of interviews for the Heinecken Doc..He is a good shooter.
The info for the exhibit is on line.
They concurrently had an opening of the photographer Wolfgang Tillmans a post modern darling who’s achievement was very large images of vapid banality. I am sure he is an immense success in the centers of high culture.
From what I saw Wolfgang Tillmans was packed and Robert’s exhibit had mostly friends.

The image, Desk Web is my desk when I first opened the box containing the “Residual realities” from Joy
